Medjat privacy policy
This policy explains what the Medjat iPhone app collects, why, and what you can do about it, in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU 2016/679) and the French Loi Informatique et Libertes. Medjat has no accounts: we never ask for your name, your email address or a password.

What we collect
Device identifier: when you first open the app, Medjat generates a random identifier (a UUID) for that installation and stores it in your iOS Keychain. It is the only thing that links your library to your device. It is not the advertising identifier, it is not your Apple Account, and it contains nothing about you or your hardware. Your library: the series you follow, the episodes and seasons you mark as watched, watch dates and rewatches, your list placements (To Watch, See Later, Dropped), your favourites, your XP, level and amulets, your display name and chosen avatar, and the ratings and notes you write in your Diary. That is all. No name, no email address, no password, no phone number, no contacts, no photos beyond the avatar you pick inside the app, no location, no advertising identifier.
Why, and on what legal basis
The data above is processed for one purpose only: making the app work, which means keeping your watch progress and restoring it when you reinstall the app or move to a new iPhone. The legal basis is the performance of the service you asked for (article 6.1.b GDPR). Notifications about new episodes are sent only if you turn them on, and can be turned off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
Where it is stored
Your library lives first on your iPhone, so the app works offline. A copy is synchronised to our server at medjat-api.pathfinder-it.fr, hosted in France by Scaleway, so it can be restored on another device. Transfers use HTTPS. The key that ties your device to that copy is stored in your iOS Keychain and, if you have iCloud Keychain enabled, synchronised by Apple to your other devices. That is what lets your library come back without an account.
Who else sees it
Nobody. Your library is not sold, rented, shared with advertisers, or used for profiling, and it is never read for any purpose other than serving it back to your device. The app queries The Movie Database (TMDB) for series information, artwork and air dates. Those requests carry the search terms and series identifiers, never your library or your device identifier. TMDB has its own privacy policy at https://www.themoviedb.org/privacy-policy. Medjat contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated App Store statistics that we cannot connect to any individual.
Tracking
Medjat does not track you across apps or websites and never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission, because there is nothing to ask for.
How long we keep it
Your library is kept as long as the installation is in use, so that it can be restored. It is deleted immediately when you use Erase All Data in the app. A library untouched for 36 months is deleted automatically. Deleting the app alone does not delete the server-side copy: that copy is exactly what brings your shows back when you reinstall. Use Erase All Data first if you want it gone.
Your rights
You can erase everything yourself, at any time, from Profile, then Data, then Erase All Data. It is immediate and permanent. Under the GDPR you also have the right to access, rectify, restrict and port your data, and to object to its processing. Write to loic@pathfinder-it.fr with the recovery code shown in the app under Backup and Recovery, which is what lets us identify the right library, since we hold nothing else about you. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (https://www.cnil.fr).
Children
Medjat is not aimed at children under 13 and collects nothing that could identify one.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top. Substantial changes are also announced in the app.
